“Spurs Sweep the Grizz”

After dominating Games 1-3, finishing off the series on Game 4 was all but a formality for the San Antonio Spurs. Deep, healthy, disciplined & battle-tested = a relatively easy first round matchup for Gregg Popovich’s bunch.

Well, easy may not be the correct word to use but not many people believed Memphis stood a chance considering how decimated they were via injury.

The Spurs took advantage this afternoon by attacking with fire in the third quarter, outscoring the Grizz, 37-21.

Kawhi Leonard was the high point man once again, notching 21 points to go along with 7 rebounds & 4 helpers. And since it was another, typical Spurs blowout, old heads Tim Duncan (19 minutes), Tony Parker (21 minutes) & Manu Ginobili (13 minutes) didn’t need to do much.

Finishing off Memphis (in 4) also means a little over a week of additional rest before playing either Dallas or OKC.

Hats off to the Grizz for fighting to reach the postseason despite a ton of injuries and ailments in the second half of the year. Coach Dave Joerger did a helluva job rallying the troops and mixing & matching different pieces to compete each night.

During the summer, securing more “diamond in the rough athletes” (like JaMychal Green), signing a couple shooters and locking up Mike Conley long-term are all priorities.
