Cleaning up a few Game 2s in the Association…

Pacers 87, RAPTORS 98

(John E. Sokolowski/USA TODAY Sports)

Stats Leaders:

PTS: Paul George – 28 | REBS: Jonas Valanciunas – 15 | ASTS: Kyle Lowry – 9

Top DOG of the Night: Jonas Valanciunas (23 points, 15 rebounds)

Quick Recap: JV was doing his stuff tonight – he set the tone inside the lane (TOR outscored Indy 46-30 in the paint) as the Raptors evened things up at a game apiece. The Pacers just didn’t execute well defensively and did not support another high-scoring game from Paul George (28 points).

Toronto also got huge boosts from two-way reserve Cory Joseph (16 points) & sweet-shooting Patrick Patterson (14 points).

Takeaway: The air is out of the balloon for Indy, though returning home to Banker’s Life Fieldhouse has the outside chance to temporarily boost role players & influence key calls in the clutch.

Featuring George in a point-forward role is probably the way to go, as Indy’s other primary playmakers aren’t getting it done.

Series tied, 1-1.

MAVS 85, Thunder 84

Stats Leaders:

PTS: Raymond Felton – 21 | REBS: Russell Westbrook – 14 | ASTS: Westbrook – 11

Top DOG of the Night: RAYMOND “MACY’S EVENT” FELTON (21 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists)

Quick Recap: OKC blew yet another 4th-quarter lead as RAYMOND FELTON & the Mavericks pull off a Game 2 upset. Riding a gutsy performance from Deron Williams (13 & 5 through a sports hernia) and receiving key contributions from Dirk Nowitzki, Salah Mejri & Ray Felt, Dallas finds itself will a ton of momentum heading into a crucial Game 3.

Takeaway: Steven Adams was this close to winning the game.

That should be an encouraging sign, right? Ya know, considering Kevin Durant shot 7 FOR 33!

Rockets 106, WARRIORS 115

(Cary Edmondson/USA TODAY Sports)

Stats Leaders:

PTS: Klay Thompson – 34 | REBS: Draymond Green – 14 | ASTS: James Harden – 11

Top DOG of the Night: Draymond Green (12 points, 14 rebounds, 8 rebounds)

Quick Recap: No Steph Curry, no problem. Draymond Green almost messed around and got a triple-double, Klay Thompson reigned treys all night and a couple Salty DOGs (Shaun Livingston & Andre Iguodala – combined for 34) did what they do best: defend their position & make plays.

Takeaway: The Rox lack heart, plain and simple. Though the score was never too out of hand, you never felt like they were gonna win. Continuing to play with such a nonchalant disposition on defense (allowed 49% from the field, GS talled 27 assists on 40 FGs) is unacceptable at this stage of the year.
