“Kris Jenkins Will Never Have to Buy a Drink in Philly for the Rest of His Life: Villanova-North Carolina Championship Recap”

Jenkins
‘NOVA. (USA TODAY Sports)

In a season filled with tremendous moments, the grandaddy of ’em all more than lived up to expectations!!!

Back and forth. Back and forth. Back and forth.

UNC led 39-34 at the break (riding Joel Berry II’s 15 first-half points) but Nova clapped back with a 12-3 run, highlighted by Phil Booth’s deadly, step back three right in Brice Johnson’s grill. Who’s Phil Booth, you ask?

No one, really. JUST THE GUY WHO DECIDED TO HAVE THE GAME OF HIS LIFE ON THE BIGGEST STAGE IN COLLEGE BASKETBALL.

Booth was incredible (career-high 20 points), making shot after shot after shot as ‘Nova continued to maintain its lead over Carolina. Ryan Arcidiacano (16 points), Kris Jenkins (14 points) and Josh Hart (12 points, 8 boards) also made key plays as ‘Nova’s defense started to tighten.

Trailing by 10 with less than six minutes to go, the Heels turned to Marcus Paige. UNC’s star senior scored 21 points, including a ridiculous, double-clutch trey to tie the game at 74.

Only problem…’Nova had the chance to pull off an improbable shot of its own.

With just 4.7 seconds left, Arcidiacano raced down the floor and handed the rock off to Kris Jenkins…

ICEWATER – A buzzer-beater for the championship !!!!! NOVA’s 1ST TITLE SINCE 85!

College Basketball Immortality for Kris Jenkins and the 2016 Villanova Wildcats.

And if you missed it, feel bad. Not only was it the best game of the year, ‘Nova-UNC was an instant classic.
